Make the Right Choices Easier

Companies have goals. Employees have goals.

Strong leaders find ways to align the two, so the right behaviors are worth choosing.

That alignment can come through compensation, recognition, autonomy, opportunity, trust, or simply making sure people aren’t punished for doing what the organization says it values.

When incentives point one way and stated goals point another, people usually follow the incentives.

The strongest systems make it easiest for people to advance their own interests while also advancing the organization’s.
